Immunotherapy

Immunotherapy has been an exciting new development in systemic cancer treatment in recent years. From the very beginning, the Netherlands Cancer Institute has been a frontrunner in the field.

By integrating basic, translational, and clinical research, we aim to make a vital contribution to a better understanding of the relationship between the immune system and cancer, to ultimately develop personalized immunotherapy treatment. We are exploring the application of immunotherapy at an earlier stage, developing cellular therapy, mapping out the differences between immune reactions in patients, and working on therapies for cancer types that are currently resistant to immunotherapy.

In the past decade, immunotherapy has given a new lease of life to part of our patients. Our research is aimed at developing immunotherapy for the majority of cancer patients.

Groundbreaking research into immunotherapy

In this video, physicians and researchers at the Netherlands Cancer Institute show how they are looking to improve immunotherapy. What can they do, and which questions are still left unanswered? Immunotherapy is an amazing breakthrough, You can get your own immune system to fight cancer. This works great for some patients but isn't effective for everybody just yet. The Netherlands Cancer Institute aims to increase our understanding of immunotherapy, improve treatment, and develop new types of immunotherapy through scientific research.
