With a growing population of cancer survivors, optimizing long-term outcomes is becoming increasingly important. Many patients experience lasting physical, psychological or social effects of their disease or its treatment, with significant impact on daily life and society. Our research focuses on identifying individual risk factors and translating these insights into care. By embedding survivorship into routine oncology practice, we aim to deliver truly personalized, life-long cancer care.
In the near future, quality of life outcomes will become increasingly important in cancer treatment and care, as important as progression-free survival

In this video, researchers from the Netherlands Cancer Institute take you along in their quest for improving cancer survivors’ quality of life. Many cancer survivors experience long-term or late effects of either the disease or its treatment. It is our mission to increase our knowledge about general and individual risk factors for quality of life problems, and to implement these new insights into our everyday clinical practice.
