Health Technology Assessment
Health Technology Assessment (HTA) can be performed alongside the total translational research process. After phase III trials, HTA (e.g. a cost-effectiveness analysis) is used to apply for reimbursement. In earlier stages of the translational research process, HTA can be used to anticipate on technological and environmental developments (early HTA).
In these early stages, advanced modeling techniques are used. The overall purpose is to steer towards cost-effective solutions and early patient access. Examples are the Coverage with Evidence development (CED) projects: “veelbelovende zorg”.
