KWF Dutch Cancer Society

A long-standing partnership

The partnership between KWF Dutch Cancer Society and the Netherlands Cancer Institute goes back to 1951 and is built on a shared ambition: to accelerate progress against cancer and improve the lives of patients. Together, we work to strengthen the connection between scientific discovery, clinical practice and societal impact.

This long-standing collaboration combines structural support for high-quality cancer research with a shared focus on three themes:

  • Patient impact – helping scientific insights reach clinical practice faster
  • Quality of life – improving life during and after cancer treatment
  • Access to treatment – exploring new ways to develop, register and reimburse cancer therapies

In 2024, KWF and the NKI extended their cooperation for another five years.

Kwf Directeur Dorine Manson
The NKI is an internationally renowned institute, combining ground-breaking science with high-quality patient care. Its ability to bring research outcomes quickly to the patient justifies our continued investments. We are proud of our long-standing cooperation.

In addition to annual institutional support, KWF also funds individual research projects across the institute. Together, these forms of support help create the conditions for both long-term scientific excellence and new, investigator-driven ideas.
