Dating back to 1951, the partnership between KWF Dutch Cancer Society and the NKI is a strong one. In 2019, KWF Dutch Cancer Society and the Netherlands Cancer Institute signed a new cooperation agreement covering the next five years, which includes an annual institutional grant from KWF Dutch Cancer Society of €16.8 million to support the NKI doing high quality, and impactful cancer research. This cooperation was extended for five more years in 2024.
Also, the Netherlands Cancer Institute and KWF Dutch Cancer Society agreed to collaborate on the basis of three thematic subjects:
The NKI is an internationally renowned institute, combining ground-breaking science with high-quality patient care. Its ability to bring research outcomes quickly to the patient justifies our continued investments. We are proud of our longstanding cooperation.Dorine Manson Director, KWF Dutch Cancer Society
Project-based grants
The DCS not only supports the NKI via an institutional grant, but also supports individual researchers through project-based grants. There are currently around 60 active DCS projects grants at the NKI.
