Karin de Visser, group leader Tumour Biology & Immunology, has been awarded a Vici Grant by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), to decipher how breast tumors shape their immune landscape. Congratulations, Karin!

Our immune system plays a critical role in cancer metastasis. But why is there such a variability in composition of the immune system between breast cancer patients? The researchers will study how the genetic makeup of a tumor helps shaping the immune system.

Karin de Visser also leads a research group within Oncode Institute

Vici, worth 1.5 million euros, is one of the largest scientific grants for individuals in the Netherlands and targets highly experienced researchers who have successfully demonstrated the ability to develop their own innovative lines of research, and to act as coaches for young researchers.
