After graduating as a medical doctor and working as an internal medicine resident not in training at the Alrijne Hospital, I started as a PhD student in a joint appointment at both the LUMC and NKI-AVL. In the NKI-AVL I’m working in the group of Emile Voest as of February 2023.
My main project is coordinating the Drug-Rediscovery Protocol (DRUP). This is a nationwide trial in which patients are treated with approved targeted or immunotherapy, matched to their molecular tumor profile, but outside their registered indication. Hereby we aim to facilitate patient access to potentially effective treatments, whilst simultaneously creating a national platform in which targeted drugs and accompanying biomarkers can be tested across various tumor types. Furthermore, I will focus on further implementing DRUP-like protocols across other countries within the European Union.
