Emile Voest

Krijn Dijkstra

I am interested in how tumour heterogeneity enables immune evasion. My research focuses on subclonal immune evasion, and on mechanisms by which different (cancer) subpopulations can protect each other. We make use of patient-derived functional models that capture tumour heterogeneity and immune cell crosstalk.

Fields of expertise

Organoid – T cell co-cultures

Tumour heterogeneity

Tumour immunology

Work experience

2020-2022
I worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of prof. Charles Swanton at the Francis Crick Institute, London. Here, I established multi-region organoids to investigate the mechanisms underlying subclonal immune escape.

2020
I obtained my PhD at the Netherlands Cancer Institute under supervision of prof. Emile Voest and prof. Ton Schumacher. My thesis revolved around organoids as personalized models of human cancer, with a specific focus on the establishment of a co-culture system of tumour organoids and autologous T cells.
