Now at the NKI and in collaboration with Geert Kops at the Hubrecht Institute, I am excited to use these and other techniques to study how cells transition from metaphase to anaphase during cell division. Specifically I am interested in determining the structure and molecular mechanisms of kinetochore-associated proteins that play an essential role in this transition. These findings are important because kinetochore-regulated chromosome segregation is often mis-regulated in cancers.
