Catarina Simões Padilla

Catarina Simões Padilla is a PhD candidate at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. Her PhD focuses on improving health-related quality of life (HRQoL) measurement strategies for patients with solid rare cancers and creating a strategy to better assess HRQoL in both clinical and research practice. She holds a BSc in Psychology with a specialisation in Neuropsychology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and an MSc in Neuroscience and Cognition, Cognitive Neuroscience track from Utrecht University, the Netherlands. She has had research internships at the Comprehensive Cancer Centre Netherlands and the University of Cambridge, investigating brain metastases in patients with an unknown primary diagnosis and molecular markers in glioma patients. She is an active member of the EORTC Quality of Life Group (QLG) and the Dutch Rare Cancer Platform, where she contributes to mentorship programs and communications initiatives.

- 2015-2019: Obtained my Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Clinical Psychology from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil;

- 2020-2022: Obtained my Master’s degree (MSc) in Neuroscience and Cognition from Utrecht University;

- 2020-2021: During my Master’s, I performed a research internship at the Netherlands Comprehensive Cancer Organization;

- 2021-2022: Within my Master’s, I completed my thesis at the University of Cambridge, England
