After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences I continued to study at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, shifting focus during the master program towards immunology. As part of this master program I interned at the AMC, studying the link between epigenetic modifications and disease progression in a macrophage sepsis model.

Continuing to work on epigenetics, I joined the Fred van Leeuwen group, in collaboration with the Heinz Jacobs group, in May 2021. Here I focus on the role of the methyltransferase DOT1L, and its underlying modification of histone 3 lysine 79, in T-cell differentiation and gene regulation.
