Jacqueline Jacobs

Tomas Ramos Pereira Gonçalves

I completed my MSci in Medical Sciences at University College London, where I conducted a research project under the supervision of Dr Kazu Tomita investigating the role of telomeres during meiosis in S. pombe.
I subsequently worked as a Research Assistant at the UCL Cancer Institute, where I studied how telomere length influences the sensitivity of osteosarcoma cells to ATR inhibitors. I then undertook my DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford, based at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, under the supervision of Prof Richard Gibbons and Dr David Clynes. My doctoral research focused on the role of the chromatin remodeller ATRX in cancer progression. Following this, I continued at the University of Oxford as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Paediatrics, working with Dr Anna Rose to identify novel regulators of the Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres (ALT) pathway.

In March 2026, I joined the group of Jacqueline Jacobs at the NKI as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where I study the ALT pathway in paediatric cancers.
