Sophie completed the BSc Voeding & Gezondheid at Wageningen University and Research (WUR). As part of her Bachelor degree she also spend a semester at University College London (UCL) to complete courses in Population Health Sciences. 

Afterwards she continued her studies in Wageningen and completed the MSc Nutrition and Health (specialisation Nutrition Physiology & Health Status). In January 2024, Sophie joined the group of Winette van der Graaf and Olga Husson as a research assistant for the COMPRAYA and COMPRAYA 2.0 studies. During that time, she also took over the coordination of the EORTC-1944 study concerning long-term survivorship challenges of GIST patients on TKIs. In March 2025, she changed roles and she is now a full-time PhD candidate. Her research focuses on determining quality of care for AYAs with cancer.
