Silvie Janssen is a postdoctoral researcher at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and Erasmus Medical Center. She devoted her PhD to gaining insight in the cancer survivorship experiences of those diagnosed during adolescence and young adulthood, unraveling the issues they face, identifying subgroups at risk of impaired outcomes and providing input for the development of tailored AYA cancer survivorship care for current and future AYA cancer survivors. As a postdoc, she will continue her research on AYAs with cancer, with a special focus on the development, implementation and evaluation of cancer (survivorship) care for AYAs with cancer. Besides this, Silvie is an active member of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Group (QLG), and an organizing committee member of the Dutch AYA Young and Cancer congress, SPACE4AYA.

  • 2011-2014: Obtained my Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Nutrition and Health from Wageningen University
  • 2014-2016: Obtained my Master’s degree (MSc) in Nutrition and Health from Wageningen University
  • 2015-2016: Within my Master’s, I completed my thesis at the Netherlands Comprehensive Cancer Organization
  • 2016; Within my Master’s, I performed a research internship at the University of Alabama, at Birmingham, United States of America
  • 2018-2019: I worked as a research assistant within several projects at the department of Psychosocial Research and Epidemiology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute
