Sanne Laauwen

I obtained both my BSc and MSc in Computer Science, specializing in Bioinformatics, from Leiden University. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to biomedical topics, particularly focusing on image analysis.

In April 2026, I joined the group of Jan-Jakob Sonke at the Netherlands Cancer Institute as a PhD candidate. Within a collaboration between NKI and Radboudumc, my research focuses on AI-based assessment of radiotherapy delineation quality, with emphasis on retroperitoneal sarcoma. By combining AI-driven image segmentation methods with clinical outcome data, I aim to develop approaches that support more accurate and clinically meaningful tumor delineation.
