In 2020, I joined the NKI-AVL as post-doc project coordinator of the Hebon Infrastructue project. With Hebon we aim to accommodate research in familial breast and ovarian cancer, both in families with mutations (such as BRCA and CHEK2) and without mutations. By further improving efficient and high quality data acquisition in all participating academic hospitals in the Netherlands and the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek our goal is to continue to contribute to scientific research.

I am affiliated with the Divisions of Psychosocial Research and Epidemiology (Group Van Leeuwen); Molecular Pathology (Group Schmidt).

 

Work Experience

2020
I obtained my PhD at the VU University Amsterdam. In my thesis I studied associations of environmental characteristics and lifestyle behaviours with donor blood parameters. This work was conducted at the  Department of Donor Medicine Research of Sanquin and the Department of Epidemiology and Data Sciences of the Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc.

2018-2019
I spent several months as a visiting researcher studying the iron status and physical activity and aerobic physical capacity at the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit of the Department of Public Health and Primary Care of the University of Cambridge.
