In August 2023, I joined the lab of Professor Daniel Peeper as a postdoctoral fellow. My research will focus in unravelling mechanisms of T cell dysfunction in the cancer context. We aim to exploit genes responsible for this process to improve the anti-tumor immune response and immunotherapy efficacy.

Work experience

2017-2023
PhD Student at i3S - Institute for Research and Innovation in Health, University of Porto and  MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas under the supervision of Professor Sonia Melo and Professor Raghu Kalluri. My research focused in understanding how extracellular vesicles (EVs) and EVs biogenesis proteins could be crucial to determine immunotherapy efficacy in pancreatic cancer.

2014-2016
Obtained my Master’s degree (MSc) in Medicine and Molecular Oncology from the University of Porto, Portugal. During this time, my MSc thesis was performed at the Portuguese Oncology Institute (IPO)-Porto in the Molecular Oncology and Viral Pathology group and focused in unraveling the role of microRNAs in mediating erlotinib resistance in renal cell carcinoma.

2011-2014
Obtained my Bachelor’s degree (BSc) in Biochemistry from the University of Porto, Portugal. My BSc thesis was performed at the Portuguese Oncology Institute (IPO)-Porto in the Molecular Oncology and Viral Pathology group where I focused in the expression profile of EGFR-related microRNAs in renal cell carcinoma.
