Since my early scientific career I am interested in interactions of malignant cells with non-malignant host cells. During my PhD in the lab of Prof. Dr. Emile Voest at the University Medical Center in Utrecht I discovered how splenic macrophages induced resistance against DNA-damaging chemotherapeutics via an intricate lipid signaling cascade. In 2016 I started  my Post doc in the lab of Prof. Dr. Jos Jonkers. Being awarded a NWO Veni grant, I am continuing my interest in tumor-host interactions by deciphering the role of fibroblasts in invasive lobular breast cancer.
