In 2021 I obtained my Master's Degree of Medicine at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. After getting my degree, I started working as a medical doctor in the field of Surgery in Leiden and Leiderdorp, at the Alrijne Hospital, followed by the HMC Hospital in The Hague. After obtaining over two years of clinical experience, I joined the research group of Theo Ruers as a PhD Student to delve into the world of research.

In the research group of Theo Ruers, the main focus is Image Guided Surgery, using different imaging modalities. I am researching Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy, as well as Ultrasound Imaging, and their role in per-operative image acquisition and decision making. My research encompasses patients with colorectal cancer, as well as prostate cancer and sarcomas. We aim to work towards better tumor localization and as a result, improved surgical resection margins.
