Jack D. Morgan, PhD is a postdoctoral researcher at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) and Erasmus Medical Centre (EMC) in the Husson-van der Graaf group. He trained in embryology and holds a PhD in Developmental and Mechanocellular Biology from King’s College London.

Following his PhD, Jack conducted postdoctoral research on the material properties of soft tissue in the congenital anomaly, radial dysplasia. This research was conducted in a collaborative project between Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (UCL) and the Randall Centre for Molecular Biophysics (KCL) and exposed him to direct multidisciplinary work between the clinic and the bench.

Alongside fundamental biology, Jack has conducted sociological research on the experiences of disabled people - an overwhelmingly underserved and often forgotten minority group - working in science. This was borne of a lifelong interest in disability inclusivity and marked the beginnings of his interest in sociological research.

He now works across several pan-European research projects focused on adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer care, including Predict-AYA, JANE2, and the Lancet AYA Commission. Within JANE2, he contributes on behalf of Dr. Husson and Prof. van der Graaf, leading a task within the AYA Network of Expertise. This work focuses on the development of a pan-European monitoring system for AYA healthcare quality using standardised quality indicators. He also works in close collaboration with the Network of Expertise on Survivorship in developing a pan-European cancer survivorship programme.

Finally, Jack is particularly interested in integrating his background in fundamental biology with his current work in public health and sociological research. Thus, he is keen to pursue interdisciplinary collaborations at this interface.
