I obtained my medical degree and my PhD degree at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands after a postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard University, USA. I completed my residency in 2011 at the department of radiology, Amsterdam University Medical Centers. After my fellow training, I became a staff member at the radiology department at the Erasmus University Medical Center, Rotterdam, and holds a research appointment at the NKI-AVL. My research focuses on the developments in imaging-directed prostate cancer diagnosis and image- guided therapies, to translate these developments into clinical practice, and to ultimately improve the chance of curation on the one hand, and reduction of overdiagnosis on the other. I am a member of the European Association Urology prostate cancer guidelines panel and a member of the international PI-RADS Steering committee, and I am leading several clinical trials on prostate cancer diagnosis.
