In 2025, I graduated with a Master’s degree in Technical Medicine at the University of Twente. I completed my Master’s with a specialization in Medical Imaging & Interventions, focusing on the implementation and optimalisation of diagnostic imaging and image-guided interventions. I did several clinical internships at different hospitals across the Netherlands, such as the Princess Máxima Center, Amsterdam UMC and UMC Utrecht. I concluded these with a research internship at Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, United States. During these internships I developed a strong interest for clinical research, specifically related to medical imaging.

In my current role as a PhD student in the IGS group I can combine these interests and experiences while working close to clinical practice, allowing me to directly witness and contribute to the impact of medical innovations. My research focuses on integrating optical techniques into a biopsy device to improve breast biopsy procedures. This enables real-time tissue classification, decreasing the need for repeated biopsies and reducing patient anxiety associated with awaiting definitive pathology results.
