During my final year of medicine at the VU University I performed a research internship at the Amsterdam UMC focusing on the immunological characteristics of the tumor microenvironment in gastric tumors. I really enjoyed doing research and became fascinated by the role of the immune system in cancer.
In October 2021, I joined the group of John Haanen as a PhD student. My project focuses on neoadjuvant treatment strategies with immunotherapy in patients with primary renal cell cancer at risk for recurrence or distant metastases. I will coordinate a clinical trial and conduct translational research work.
