Elena Simonetti

After obtaining my medical degree at Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli in Rome, I completed my residency in Medical Oncology at the Center for Immuno-Oncology in Siena (Italy), where I focused mainly on immunotherapy and strategies to overcome resistance to immune checkpoint blockade, with particular attention to epigenetic remodeling. Since February 2025, I have been part of John Haanen’s group at NKI, first as a Research Fellow and, since March 2026, as a PhD student working on T cell–based therapies, integrating translational and clinical research to develop innovative immune-based approaches against cancer.
