Theo Ruers

Cyrille Mooij

In 2023, I completed my Master's degree in Biomedical Technology and Physics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. During this period, I conducted an extensive internship within the Biophotonics and Medical Imaging research group at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. This involvement comprised various projects in the domain of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), ranging from technical enhancements of OCT systems to clinically-oriented investigations. These undertakings formed the basis of my thesis and lead to my Master's degree. My specialization lies in optical medical imaging techniques and image processing.

In the same year, I initiated my doctoral journey under the guidance of Theo Ruers, concentrating on expanding the horizons of optical imaging methods within and beyond surgical environments. The initial phase of my PhD revolves around the application of hyperspectral imaging (HSI) in the assessment of surgical margins and chemotherapy response. This research initiative is primarily concentrated on patients with breast, colorectal, prostate, and head & neck cancers.
