During my studies, I began my research journey in neuroscience and neuroimaging, contributing to data-driven projects that investigated brain function and behavior, which sparked my interest in translating complex measurements into meaningful biological insights. For my masters internship at TNO, I moved into the field of optics and I worked with spatial frequency domain imaging (SFDI) to study how light interacts with biological tissue. This experience combined modeling, instrumentation, and experimental validation and steered me toward optical imaging for healthcare.
I am currently a PhD candidate at the Image-Guided Surgery and the NKI Center for Early Cancer Detection. My research focuses on developing and validating portable, cost-effective hyperspectral imaging (HSI) for early skin cancer detection, combined with state-of-the-art machine learning and AI.
