I obtained my PhD in the lab of Jon Higgins at Newcastle University where I focused on the kinase haspin and the roles of histone phosphorylation in mitosis. Coming from a mitosis background, the SMC complexes cohesin and condensin have always been a strong interest of mine. I also became fascinated with 3D genome organization and how this changes during the cell cycle. I therefore joined the Rowland lab as a postdoc in January 2022 to continue my research and investigate how SMC complexes structure chromatin and how they are regulated throughout the cell cycle.
