Email Olga Husson Winette van der Graaf

Asiye Gedik is a PhD candidate at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and the Erasmus MC Cancer Institute. Her research is focused on the needs and preferences of patients with a migration background in a non-curative phase. She has interrupted her training as an internist-oncologist to conduct research in this field. During her work, she discovered that there was still much unknown about these groups, and that more attention is needed for person-centered care, with culturally sensitive care being a key component. Over the past two years, she and her team have organized culturally sensitive care conferences at Erasmus MC annually. She participates in projects within the Adolescents and Young Adults (AYAs) research group to promote diversity and inclusivity. Additionally, in her spare time, she provides cancer awareness presentations to patients with a migration background. She also writes articles on diversity and inclusivity for various Dutch magazines.
