In January 2025, I joined the group of Lonneke van de Poll as a PhD student. I work on the EORTC Quality of Life Group project ‘Activating cancer patients in research and care by effectively presenting PROs to patients using tailored narratives’.

Currently, PROs are often presented in ways that lack context and can often be misinterpreted, leading to underutilization by healthcare providers and patients alike. Narratives that are presented alongside numerical PROs can provide recognition and context for patients. This project focuses on tailoring narratives to the patient and whether this has an effect on patient activation, and using Large Language Models or Natural Language Generation to generate these narratives.
