Adaptive Radiotherapy

Jan-Jakob Sonke started his PhD in the field of room-acoustics in 1996 at the Delft University of Technology. He started his career in the field of radiation oncology at the Netherlands Cancer Institute in 2000 to work on image-guided radiotherapy. Currently he is a full professor at the University of Amsterdam and leads a research group at NKI focusing on adaptive radiotherapy. His group develops technology to quantify patient specific anatomical and functional changes over the course of radiotherapy through advanced imaging, image analysis and image registration and methods to subsequently optimize therapy by adapting each patient’s treatment plan to these changes.
