Somatic modeling

Somatic engineered mouse modeling is feasible due to the successful combination of the CRISPR/Cas9 system with efficient delivery systems (viral and non-viral) that vary according to the target organ.

AMF can assist in non-germline modeling by designing and generating viral constructs and produce virus particles for injections in mice. For example, lentiviral delivery of sgRNAs in the mammary gland can be used for loss-of function mutations in this specific tissue in mice expressing Cas9 (Annunziato et al. 2016).

Furthermore, we are currently setting up in-vivo tissue electroporation procedures enabling even faster and more flexible generation of somatic models for cancer.
