Towards whole genome sequencing of tumour tissue in routine cancer diagnostics

The Netherlands Cancer Institute, UMC Utrecht and Hartwig Medical Foundation are investigating the feasibility of reading out the entire tumor DNA (whole genome sequencing) in routine clinical diagnostics for patients with metastatic cancer. The ultimate aim is to provide personalized treatment  for as many patients as possible, based on the patient's unique tumor profile. The Netherlands Organisation for Health Research and Development (ZonMW) granted 1.5 million euro for the study.
