While some immunotherapies already help cancer patients, many more of this type of drugs that are aimed at encouraging the immune system to fight cancer are being developed.

During her PhD research Willeke Ros studied the efficacy and safety of several of those medicines in the first patients. She also investigated whether the already registered immunotherapy pembrolizumab could be effective against rare tumors. On Wednesday September 18^thshe will defend her thesis at Utrecht University.
