Mathematical models describing the side effects and behavior of medicines in the body can be very helpful in cancer research.

Modelling and simulation can improve cancer treatment

Aurelia de Vries Schultink's PhD research at the Netherlands Cancer Institute shows, among other things, that such farmacometric models can improve the treatment with existing cancer drugs, such as tamoxifen. Also, they are very useful for determining the right doses of new drugs in a clinical trial. She will defend her thesis at Utrecht University on Wednesday May 29th. Good luck Aurelia!
