Over the past years, Bas has shown remarkable dedication to the research and treatment of bladder cancer and several rare cancer types, including penile cancer, testicular cancer, and urachal cancer. His commitment to patient care goes hand in hand with his passion for science and education.
After earning his PhD cum laude in 2005 at Erasmus University Rotterdam with his thesis “Molecular diagnosis and prognosis of bladder cancer,” Bas obtained a second PhD in 2020 at the University of Regensburg in Germany. After completing his fellowship in urologic oncology in Toronto, Canada, and joining the Netherlands Cancer Institute in 2011, he has been an active member of the European Association of Urology's guidelines panel on bladder cancer, and has contributed to numerous scientific publications in leading international journals together with his PhD students.
