Cancer can only be understood and ultimately conquered when we collaborate with a whole range of stakeholders. Of all collaboration partners, patients are by far the most important, valuable and close to our hearts.
Around 25% of our patients are engaged in a clinical study. Without their commitment, there would be no cancer research.
To bring researchers and patients closer together, the NKI takes part in the Oncode Institute Patient Perspective Program. This program creates oppertunities for researchers and patients or former patients to meet, exchange perspectives and learn from one another. Within the NKI, five Oncode-labs currently take part in this program: Van Rheenen, De Visser, Akkari, Zwart and Vermeulen.
The Patient Council promotes the interests of all patients who are in care of our hospital, the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital. The Patient Council represents the interests of patients receiving care at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital. It acts as an advisory body and proactively contributes ideas and perspectives to the Board of Directors.
