Postdoc Transcription factors in the 3D genome

Your function within the department

The lab of Elzo de Wit is a recently started group with an interest in genome function and dynamics. We aim to strongly integrate wet-lab and computational biology. We use a multitude genomics methods such as ChIPseq, ATAC-seq and Hi-C to study the interplay between nuclear organization, chromatin states and gene expression. My lab was recently awarded an NWO Vidi grant to study the role of transcription factors in the organization of the 3D genome. We will study this both in cell lines and clinical (cancer) samples. We have a keen interest in implementing and developing novel sequencing technologies.
We have previously shown that lineage specific transcription factors are important in shaping the 3D genome in mouse embryonic stem cells (de Wit et al., 2013) and primary cells (Krijger et al., 2016). The current project aims to functionally characterize these interactions. We will do this by using genome editing of transcription factor binding sites and measuring the effect on the transcription factor binding, 3D genome organization and gene expression. Furthermore, we will characterize the role of transcription factors in 3D genome organization clinical tumor samples. The project will involve close cooperation with a computational biologist.

Your profile

We seek ambitious postdocs with a background in molecular biology, preferably with experience in genomics. Strong commitment, the ability to quickly implement novel methods and a desire for computational analysis are recommended.

Your career opportunities and terms of employment

You will be employed for a period of at least 5 years. The gross salary per month is € 3.363,- to € 3.774,- according to the FWG-function group 55, and depends on previous experience. The terms of employment will be in accordance with the CAO Hospitals.
