Your function within the department

We are looking for a motivated PhD student or postdoc to join Dr Tineke Lenstra’s team. The main interest of the lab is to understand the regulatory mechanisms and dynamics of eukaryotic transcription at the single cell and single molecule level. Single cells can show considerable variation in transcriptional responses, and the goal of the current project is to understand the molecular basis of this gene expression heterogeneity. The project will involve single-molecule microscopy to visualize individual RNA molecules to directly measure transcription in single living cells.

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD student or postdoc with a strong background in molecular biology with an affinity for biophysics, systems biology and quantitative biology. Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team are essential. Previous experience in the field of transcription regulation, chromatin biology or microscopy would be advantageous.

Your career opportunities and terms of employment

We offer a stimulating and interactive research environment, free use of all state-of-the-art facilities, a competitive salary. The gross salary per month is € 3.215,- to € 3.917,- (postdoc, conform FWG55) or
