Ton Schumacher awarded with Van Loghem laureate and Peter Speiser award

Netherlands Cancer Institute researcher Ton Schumacher was honored as the Van Loghem laureate at the yearly conference of the Dutch Society for Immunology on December 9.

With this, Schumacher joins the rank of renowned Dutch immunologists who previously received this honor. Immunologists of the NKI are well represented within these ranks: in 2009 Jannie Borst became the van Loghem laureate, and in 2015 the honor was for Sjaak Neefjes (who recently moved to the LUMC). In an interview at the website of the society, Schumacher tells about his groundbreaking work in cancer immunotherapy.

A few weeks ago Schumacher also received the Peter Speiser Award from the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the EHT Zürich (see picture). This annual prize is awarded for groundbreaking achievements in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
