Experience

I received my PhD cum laude from Utrecht University in 2015, under the mentorship of Prof. René Bernards at the Netherlands Cancer institute. During the study, I used systematic approaches, primarily function-based genetic screens, to investigate resistance mechanisms of cancer to targeted therapies and designed effective therapeutic approaches that overcome such resistance.

Realizing the very significant potential of cancer immunotherapies, I have decided to exploit my knowledge and skills in functional genetics to dissect immune regulatory mechanisms. I joined the group of Prof. Ton Schumacher at the end of 2015 as a postdoctoral fellow. Here I work on the development and application of high-throughput functional genetic tools to study the interactions between cancer cells and immune cells, aiming to identify novel drug targets and effective therapeutic strategies.
