Saskia Suijkerbuijk

Senior postdoctoral fellow

I am interested in a process called cell competition and in particular how tumors use this mechanism for their own benefit. After I finished my PhD in the lab of Geert Kops (UMC Utrecht) I moved to the Gurdon Institute in Cambridge (UK). Where I developed my interest in the role of cell competition in tumor growth using in the Drosophila adult intestine as a model system the lab of Eugenia Piddini. Since the beginning of 2016 I have expanded this line of research to mammalian models as a KWF fellow in the lab of Jacco van Rheenen.
