Paes Dias, Mariana

Mariana Paes Dias

Ph.D. Student

I graduated  in Cell and Molecular Biology (NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal). Next, I obtained my Master's degree in Molecular Medicine and Oncology (University of  Porto, Portugal).

My PhD project aims to identify genes that confer resistance to synthetic lethality drugs in BRCA1/2-deficient tumour cells and to unveil molecular mechanisms leading to drug resistance. I will use cancer cell lines and organoids from genetically engineered mouse models of BRCA1- and BRCA2-deficient breast to conduct in vitro drug resistance screens with genome-wide and DNA damage response focused shRNA and CRISPR/Cas9 libraries.
