Ph.D. Student

I mastered in Applied Physics at the University of Technology in Delft, from which I graduated in 2015. After working at a start-up company for two years, I concluded that I wanted to pursue my career in a different direction: doing useful scientific research. I soon after found an opening for a PhD candidacy in Theo Ruers' group and applied. My current research is focused on the application of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) during surgery. DRS is a technique that allows for the accurate discrimination of healthy from tumorous tissue based on their differences in optical characteristics. Without aid, this discrimination is often difficult to perform during surgery, so the application of DRS can prove to be of great value in avoiding additional treatment afterwards.
