Epidemiologist, Group Leader late adverse effects

The Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI) located in Amsterdam is an internationally renowned institute dedicated to fundamental, translational and clinical cancer research. It forms a comprehensive cancer center with the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital, both located under one roof with one Board of Directors. It is a dynamic institute accommodating over 50 research groups. Researchers at the NKI conduct curiosity-driven research across a wide range of cancer-related topics. With research groups focusing on genome organization, immunology, cellular and molecular biology, advanced mouse models for cancer, innovative therapies, artificial intelligence, clinical cancer research, psychosocial research, and epidemiology we provide an excellent research environment covering many different topics. Our researchers are supported by excellent research facilities with dedicated and experienced operators. The statistical support facility is hosted within our Division. Researchers have access to a large amount of patient material supported by a molecular pathology facility for analysis on patient samples as well as patient data though data desks which will be integrated in the near future into a datalakehouse. The clinic performs many clinical trials supported by a clinical trial unit, a fully licensed pharmacy for the production of novel drugs and cell-based therapies, and support for trial design, data management and analysis. Our meetings and communication are in English and with the many non-Dutch scientists in our institute, we created an international atmosphere. In total, we have approximately 650 scientists and scientific support staff in our institute.

The division of Psychosocial Research and Epidemiology is one of 15 research divisions of the NKI. Its mission is to apply the whole range of health sciences including epidemiology, health technology assessment, psychology and statistical methodology to advance our understanding of cancer etiology, to explore opportunities for early detection, diagnosis and treatment, to improve personalized survivorship care, and to optimize cancer prevention, patient care and quality of life. The division Psychosocial Research and Epidemiology has a strong track record in the area of Late Adverse Effects of Cancer Treatment and several large multicenter retrospective and prospective cohort studies with data from multiple sources (patient questionnaires, medical records) are available. Close collaborations exist with other divisions within the NKI, including Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Surgery, Radiology and Molecular Pathology. The Netherlands has an excellent research infrastructure with linkage possibilities with relevant registries such as the Netherlands Cancer Registry, the Personal Records Database, the Dutch Pathology Database, and Statistics Netherlands (with Cause of Death and Hospital Discharge Registries

What we offer 
The NKI offer group leaders at the NKI maximal freedom to develop and execute their research plan. Every 5 years each group leader is evaluated by an external panel of internationally renowned scientists and this panel provides feedback to improve the research. We offer competitive salaries and excellent secondary employment conditions. The employment conditions include an end-of-year and a holiday payment (each 8% of the annual salary) and contribution to a pension scheme. We also offer (financial) support for moving to the Netherlands. Besides the salary of the group leader the institute also will provide support personnel.
