The NKI-AVL combines a scientific research laboratory with a specialised clinic. It is the only dedicated cancer centre in the Netherlands. The primary objective of the NKI-AVL is to make a substantial contribution to combating cancer through a unique interaction of scientific research and clinical application.
The TTO is dedicated to supporting the interaction with commercial entities. It achieves this through management of NKI-AVL’s IP and research capabilities.
Businesses can interact in various ways with the NKI-AVL:
Spinouts and new company formation: the NKI-AVL is involved in spin-outs and company formations that will improve cancer patient care and treatment.
Licensing and assignment of IP: the NKI-AVL holds various patents protecting IP developed within the Institute. These are licensed to third parties for the benefit of cancer research and patient care.
Research collaborations: the NKI-AVL has numerous research collaborations in the field of cancer research.
Reagents: within the NKI-AVL, many commercially relevant reagents are developed. These include antibodies, cell lines and mouse models. These are made available to the research community and to commercial entities.
